Winning Time Review: spoiler free

Dynamic duo?

Growing up in the Bay Area, I was and still am Golden State Warriors fan. So my hate for the Lakers is very real. Alot of respect for the players, organization and history but will always hate them. So of course when the organization kept winning my Warrior’s were just scraping by and making it to the playoffs. But that’s all in the past and HBO max has done a great job in my opinion bringing up the Lakers past winning history in a very funny, sometimes deep kind of way. When I first seen the trailer and seeing one of my favorite actors John C Riley was portraying the late great Dr. Jerry Buss in a very John C. Riley way. It caught my interest. Then I kept seeing more. From the camera they used to put you back in 1979. The settings, seeing the old Forum that I use to go to whenever we traveled to Los Angeles area and see the Lakers stomp out my warrior in the regular season in the early 90s.

The Premise:

Dynasty

It’s the off-season for the Lakers and new regime is coming to take over. Dr Jerry Buss has landed on a gold mind. Has a chance for the number 1 overall pick, building a new light at the end of the tunnel for him and his family but there is one problem. Dr Jerry Buss is over his head when it comes to being a rookie owner of a historic franchise. The great Jerry West, the logo himself is stressed to the max and and causing stress in the front office. Also Jerry Buss is broke but he lands maybe one of the greatest if not the greatest point Guard to ever play

You know who he is.

Quincy Isaiah starring as Magic Johnson was incredible to watch. When I use to play basketball as a teen I use to play pg and my dad who hated magic and the Lakers made me watch old Magic Johnson highlights to help me become a better passer but obviously i didn’t pay much attention but to see this guy play Magic is pretty spot on. They way he talks, the way he runs the down the floor in scenes. Seeing him become the 6’9 floor general is amazing to see and I hope this actor gets some love in the Oscar season because I feel he did that great of a job as Magic.

My Favorite of the show

“The Logo”

Okay now I know there is a lot of controversy with the portrayal of Jerry West but too see Jerry so explosive, pissed off and losing his s**t almost everytime he is on screen really made me love this show. Now I have great respect of for Jerry West. Never seen him play but his mind for the game and building teams up is amazing to see and read about but to see how the pressures of the game and managing the team was pretty intense to see and hilarious most times but I can see that amount of pressure getting the best of somebody and it made for the show to get kind of dark sometimes. With that being said Jason Clarke did a amazing job as well. Also like to thank Jerry West for axing the possible trade of Klay Thompson for Kevin Love.

Overall Grade

Larry Legend

I give this Show a A+ I just love this show, and I hate the Lakers but the history is to great to not tune in. The acting was well done, the show was so fun, funny at times but had some serious dark times as well. It is a very well balanced show and if you are a sports fan or love the Lakers then I believe you will enjoy this show. Now once again there is alot of controversy moments that makes ask yourself “Did that really happen?” And to answer the question you have to ask a actual Laker. So let me know what you think about the show, tell me you story about your love or hate with the Lakers. Or if you want to talk ish about basketball just reply in the comment section. In the mean time thank you again for taking the time read this review and I will see you next time. Until next time be safe and enjoy life. ✌️

Moon Knight spoiler free review

Moon Knight

Its no secret that the moon knight show on Disney Plus has gain much popularity and the character is gaining his much needed popularity that was overlooked for many years but now the his time has come and in my opinon has given the Mcu a much needed and somewhat recharge. Now i havve had my issues with the Mcu over the past couple of years and to be honest i skipped a few of their movies. But when it was announced that Moon Knight was getting a series from Disney plus. I was a little worried that it would fall under the classic mcu formula. Never the less the kid inside me reminded me that this character is near dear to my heart but also this character is on my top 5 marvel superhero list next likes of “Ironman” Black Panther”, “Silver Surfer” and “Daredevil”. So I ignored my issues with the Mcu and dove in with excitement.

The story

Steven Grant with a “V”

Poor Steven Grant a innocent museum worker with great knowledge of ancient egyptain history has found himself dealing with some issues from Blacking out. Waking up in very different environments with blood on his hands and crazed soul sucking cult leader following him. So whats a man with that many issues do? You listen to your voice but in this situation you find out that your voice maybe the real version of you. Enter Marc Spector and what Marc Spector brings to the table is the “Fist of Konshou” The Moon Knight. And it’s up to Moon Knight to save the world from evil while he battles with himself and his identity and his past.

Author Harrow

Ethan Hawke does a great job playing the soul sucking villain in this series. He is very chilling as a cult leader. I have always been a fan of his work ever since “Dead Poets Society”. So when it was announced that he was playing the villain of the series I was sold. His presence in the show makes him feel like a villain from Mortal Kombat. Maybe it’s the way he sucks souls out of the innocent people in the show. But overall his performance was amazing.

Oscar Issac

Now for Oscar Issacs performance in the show. He really nailed it with this one. Playing a tortured soul who has to fight for a god who could care less about him while dealing with his inner battles with himself while going on sucide missions was incredible to watch. When he switches from Oscar Grant to Marc Spector was really fun to watch. From going from a nervous British museum worker to a bad ass mercenary who doesn’t hesitate kill was just too cool to pass up on.

Moon knight and Mr Knight

The coolest part for me was seeing the nice suits. Moon Knight in my opinion has always the best design when it comes to marvel character’s but when Mr Knight was first introduced I fell in love with that design and story. When you see them in combat in the show, I think you will fall in love with it as well.

Overall Grade

I give the show a B+. I would have given it a A but only 6 episodes is too short for me but overall I had a lot of fun. A great adventure superhero show that goes on a kind of Willy Wonka ride. But I think this is a great addition to the MCU. Now there is rumors going on that there may not be a season 2 and if that’s case then that is a great disappointment in my book. But overall it is what it is.

So to all my fellow Moon Knight fans. Tell me what you think about the show. Share your likes, dislikes and just tell me your experiences with the character Moon Knight and tell me what you think. But in the mean time thank you for taking the time to read this review. Until next time be safe and have a great mother’s day weekend and tell your mother how much you love her and appreciate her. Until next time, stay in peace my friends.

The Return Of the Scream Franchise. My Review of Scream. Spoiler free

They just love their scary movies.

And of course like the hardcore horror fan that I am, when this movie was first announced I ignored the complaints that I had about the direction but since the last movie came out so many years ago. I got excited and after seeing the first trailer, i was in. And last friday me and the wife got a babysitter for our daughter and had a classic date night. Dinner and a movie and like the fool that I am, not paying attention i ended buying movie tickets for the wrong movie but all was fixed and we ended watching the movie and this did not dissapoint me. I ended up enjoying this alot more then i thought i would. This movie was fun, gory, and a slashing good time. (Yeah i wrote that). What I most enjoyed about was this movie really opened up the franchise with their legacy characters which really caught my interest.

The great returns

It just wouldnt be a scream movie without the orginal surving three amigos “Sidney Prescott” “Gale Weathers” and “Dewey Riley”. The three come together for maybe a last fight with ghostface. New characters or i mean new vicitms of find out they are being hunted after a brutal attack of one of their friends and the bodies pile up around the good ole small town of Woodsboro. Like Michael Myers to Halloween and Freddy Krueger to Elm Street, woodsboro will never be safe city to live due to hardcore horror fans just taking it a step too far with their fandom and i feel this movie re captures that aspect perfectly.

Ghostface

Of course it wouldnt be a scream movie without the main person “Ghostface”. With the classic hunting knife and the black robe costume and mask. The iconic look is still menacing and scary when you see the killer on the screen and of course the voice, that voice that made everybody get a caller id back in the 90s is still the same with more edge. It was great to hear that voice again. It was just great to see ghostface again. Now of course like every movie comes out i have a couple of nitpicks about the movie but those nitpicks do not ruin this movie for me. Also this movie pays a great deal of respect to the orignal in more ways then i can count. It also may open the doors for more sequels.

Whats the future?

Of course the internet is buzzing about a possible sequel and if i had my way, i say make a couple of more. There is a whole new audience out there who may really enjoys this franchise like I do. I mean everybody deserves a good scream every now and then and i like to think Wes Craven himself would have enjoyed this new movie so i dont see any reason why the franchise cant continue. As long as you keep it scary and fresh this franchise will have a strong following like its had for more then 20 years now. Now is this movie as good as the first one? In my opnion, no but its still great in its own right so for me i hope they continue and for the overall grade i am going to give this movie a solid B+ but let me know what you think in the comment section. What worked for you or what didnt work for you. But in the mean time thanks for taking the time to read this review and i will see you guys and gals again. In the mean time be safe.

Battle of the iconic rap groups. My review of Bone versuz 3 6 Mafia

The History

These two historic rap groups goes all the way back 26 years. I remember being a little kid, i think around 8 or 9 years and discovering Bone thugs and Harmony. First time i heard them, my first thought was the way they rapped and harmonize was the first i have ever heard that type of rap and it was beautiful. When “Thuggish Ruggish Bone first drop, that song spread fast around the bay area and we loved it. Then to find out they were from cleveland Ohio.  Members “Krayzie Bone, “Wish Bone, “Layzie Bone”, “Bizzy Bone”and “Flesh-N Bone” came in on the scene with the dookie breads looking like they came from LA but to find out they came from Cleveland Ohio first we have ever heard any rappers from there while adopting had a very west coast sound to them due to the greatness of the late Eazy-E. They had hit after hit and we could not get enough of it.

Then maybe about 2 years later another group rises from “Nawf Memphis” was 3 6 mafia. “DJ Paul” “Juicy J”, Lord Infamous” (R.I.P”) “Cruncy Black” “Gangsta Boo” and “Koopsta” (R.I.P). Now before we heard 3 6, a lot of family and friends were already listening to “Brotha Lynch Hung” so the dark horror rap sound was heard around our parts but 3 6 had different sound to them. They had some buck, get crazy down south flow to them and of course we fell in love with them as well. A lot of parent were not letting their kids listen to 3 6 due to the belief that 3 6 was satanic worshippers but in my house hold anything goes lol. No i am not a satanic worshiper and i am not here to claim 3 6 mafia are worshippers themselves. Their music was to great and went hard to pass up.

Now growing up we heard the diss track called “Live By yo Rep” aimed at bone which had a lot of people talking about the beef but Bone went on to focus on making even bigger hits and 3 6 was taking over the underground rap scene. Couldn’t hate on either direction.

THE VERZUZ BATTLE

Now to start off my biggest complaint to the battle was the crowd. No energy, no wild crowd, just basically have a large group just recording everything on their phones. Not really hating on the phones but damn come alive LA you have the two biggest rap groups in front of you going to war. We needed more energy out of you. Maybe one day they will announce a rematch. Now i knew going in this battle was going to be tough for both groups. Each one countered a hit of their own from “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” to “tear Da club Up”. I was hyped, bobbing my head while watching. Get some energy in me like was a teen getting ready for a football game again and i loved it. Watching my childhood rap groups go at it made me remember why i love rap so much.

Each group had their special guests appearances which made the show even better. From “Lil Flip”, “Chamillionaire” “Lil Eazy E” the spirit of the late great “2 pac and “biggie” along with Terrance Howard was amazing. There was a lot more guests but i will let you see them for yourselves if you have not watched the show yet.

Loved his energy

Now time address the elephant in the room and that was Bizzy scuffle with Juicy J and the little fight that broke out. I know a lot of people were upset about what happened and what “Gangsta Boo had to say about Bizzy but for me and honestly i didn’t take it serious. Some ish was said and Bizzy threw a water bottle and i think Flesh hit somebody with a mic but then both groups went backstage and hashed it out but came back and finished the show. Bizzy came back and finished the show and when they needed him he was ready and was pretty much ripping 3 6 apart in some of the battle but we all know Bizzy is one that many rappers do not want to battle.

OVERALL

This was a great show that i wish went longer and also there was a lot of hits that were not performed but i still loved the show and for me there was no winner. Both groups talked a lot.of s*** to each other but had a lot of for each other as well. Now coming in I thought Bone would edge them out but 3 6 proved that they are not second to Bone but Bone proved that even though they haven’t had a hit in years they proved that they are still Eternal and loved that about Bone. I know a lot of people were discrediting one group to make the other group look better but with these two, i don’t think you can do that. There was something else missing or i can someone and that was

Scarecrow

One of the most underrated but yet one of the most influential rappers to ever bless the mic who passed away almost 8 years ago to this day. He was my favorite member from 3 6 mafia and if you want to listen to a great display of his skill then listen to him on “Tear Da club up thugs” “CrazyNDalasDayz” album. His flow would have been a great counter to Bizzy bone. R.I.P to the Scarecrow.

I hope to see a rematch with a different crowd, more hits, more guests and no fight break outs and maybe we will get a clear winner. Let me know who you think won the battle and let me know what city should host the rematch if there will be one.

My overall grade i give the show a solid B but thats just me. Tell me what you thought of the show and tell me your favorite song from each group. Until then thank you for visiting this blog. Until then be safe and have a happy holiday. Peace

My top 5 Thanksgiving Movies.

We are now back to the magical time of the holiday season and pretty much everybody second favorite holiday around this time, Thanksgiving. (Well at least everybody i know). As thanksgiving approaches this week i have been seeing more and more christmas movie advertisements coming on more and more along with christmas songs on the radio and it got me thinking, where is the love for thanksgiving movies? Well look no further then this blog because today i am going to give you my top 5 thanksgiving movies. As i did my research for all the thanksgiving movies on Google and Imdb and to my surprise there was over a hundred movies and most of them i have never heard of them or watched but these timeless classics will put a smile on your face one way or the other and some of these movies will surprise you and to start off the list at number 5

5.

Boomerang

This is the one that will catch you by surprise but for me I watch it every year around this time of the year. The thanksgiving dinner scene in this movie is hilarious. The late great John Witherspoon steals the scene along with Bebe Drake. Just this scene alone is great and i promise you will laugh and maybe have some tears. So to me this is a classic Thanksgiving movie and one of my favorite Eddie Murphy movies. And next in the list

4.

Rocky

For a lot of us, Thanksgiving time is a time for family, happiness and great food but for Rocky “its just thursday” and time for him to take the very shy pretty woman that works at the local pet shop by the name of Adrian Pennino. This holiday classic has it all. A great underdog story, love, toughness, holiday season and Apollo Creed. This is another one i watch every year for this time of the year. And next on the list.

3.

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Growing up in a big neighborhood with a large group of kids, we kind of lived out like the Peanuts gang. And as the peanuts gang enjoys the Thanksgiving season, this movie always takes me back to those days and this one is to great to pass up. Sure its short but its long enough to last forever in the heart, no matter how old you get, this one always brings back great memories. And next on the list

2.

Scent of A Woman

This movie is great and Al Pacino is incredible as a blind drunk retired Military man who pretty much makes everybody feel like crap but I love it and the speech that he lays out to the school at the end of movie is oscar worthy in it’s own. Next to movies like “Carlito’s Way” and “Dog Day Afternoon” Pacino performance is up there with those classic roles he performed. Now finally number 1

1.

Trains, Planes and Automobiles

You can never go wrong with the late great John Candy and Steve Martin and when they shared the screen for this thanksgiving movie, they did not disappoint and this movie is just too funny and I love this movie. Makes you really think, why do they not make movies like this anymore. But overall if you want a great laugh for Thanksgiving. If eating to much at Thanksgiving doesn’t hurt well the comedy from this movie will get the job done. So enjoy and watch it with love ones. You will not regret it.

I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving season with family, friends and loved ones.and appreciate this time with them and have a great time and be sure to remember the most important thing and that is to save me a plate. Jk but please remember to not take this time for granted and make sure you stay safe. Thanks for taking the time and be sure to share your favorite thanksgiving movies. Until next time Happy Thanksgiving and have a happy Holiday season. See you next time.

Movie’s too watch for the Halloween season.

My favorite time of the year is here, my halloween spirit is up along with the decorations covering up my house. Classic horror movies are on the TV. The weather is cooler and crock pot meals are cooking at rapid pace. And just like every september where I watch a marathon of Martial Arts movie for my birthday, October is no different. The halloween season marathon has begun. Now of  course I watched the classics like “Halloween movies” “Friday the 13th movies” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street movies” “A Nightmare Before Christmas” but there are others that I would recommend outside of those classic films. So today I bring you my top ten Halloween season movies.

1.

This late 70’s horror classic has everything you want, (well almost everything). If “Jaws” made you want to stay out of the water then this movie will make you want to stay out of funeral homes. This chilling old school horror keeps a creepy vibe with a eerie story to it and the music to this movie is really cool to listen to. Now for a lot of todays audience I think a lot of people forgot about this franchise but if you come across it, give it a chance. Its not the scariest movie in the world but it defiantly has a very creepy vibe to it. With blood thirsty dwarfs, flying metal sphere balls flying into peoples heads and causing them to bleed out like a standing hose, this movie fits well with the season.

2.

Parents if you are looking for something to watch with the kiddos then look no further then “ParaNorman”. This 2012 animation is now on Netflix. The animation is cool, the story is funny and there is a lot of adult humor in it. Overall its a fun movie and I don’t think the kids will be disappointed from this one.

3.

“Some motherf***kers’ are always trying to ice-skate uphill”

Who would of thought brutal action horror would be the one to save the superhero franchise. Well this is the grandaddy of them all. Blade 1 and 2 are classics and fit perfectly for the halloween season.  You got blood, gore, horror, vampires and Wesley Snipes as a bad ass the classic marvel vampire hunter character “Blade”. The first movie set the tone and the second movie steps it up with the horror and gore. The Reapers will give your kids nightmares. This is not the avengers. You have been warned.

4.

This 1999 horror is perfect for the time of the year. The retelling story of The headless Horseman directed by Tim Burton is a very dark gothic tale opens up the world involving witchcraft, brutal murders and a very chilling atmosphere is a movie you can not pass up in the halloween season. Johnny Depp does a good job as “Ichabod Crane” and the “Headless Horseman” is cold blooded and brutal. I love this movie, I am surprised i don’t hear enough people talk about this movie when it comes to horror, maybe people don’t like this movie, i am not sure but this movie will always be on my list for Greatest horror  movie for me

5.

Okay, this movie is my childhood. I remember always renting it from Hollywood video (remember that place). The Ernest movies were great but very dumb but its another guilty pleasure and this was my favorite one of the series. The wacky story along with the creepy trolls that they created for this movie was so good and the way the trolls turned kids into wooden dolls was kind of chilling. If you are a 90s kid like i am then this movie will bring back good memories. For some reason i can never find this movie on any streaming services but if you come across it, give this movie a chance.

6.

Here’s another one parents can watch with their kids. This 20006 animation has great voice work and great animation to go with it. This movie is very fun to watch with your kids. And every halloween season needs a haunted house.

7.

Another classic comedy that blends a little horror into it that the kids may enjoy. Lord knows I did at six years old. This 1991 comedy is just great overall movie in my opinion. I remember being so excited to watch this in theaters and always watch it for the halloween season. Now Raul Julio (it was a a tuesday) plays the perfect Gomez and Christopher Lloyd as uncle Fester is incredible. You barely can recognize him. This is another one that the family can enjoy together.

8.

Forget Rotten Tomatoes. This late 90s dark comedy horror was just way to funny to pass on. Not to mention the gore and horror is just perfect and its set around Halloween time. I loved this movie as a teen and Jessica Alba had a lot to do with that. Overall this movie is too good to pass up. I don’t see it in streaming services and i think overall people forgot about this one but if you come across it, give it a chance, you may like it.

9.

Another horror classic thats hard to pass up for this time of the year. I mean the same alone is perfect for the halloween season. This monster of vengeance is out for blood and it will get it one way or the other. Now along with Phantasm this horror classic has been forgotten about. Now if you are into 80s horror movies like i am, this one will not disappoint and if you are disappointed then Pumpkinhead will come at you for revenge

10.

And at number 10 is the great “Trick R Treat”. This horror mythology set on Halloween night is the perfect halloween movie and I hope, if the rumors are true we will get a sequel one day. Overall this movie blends it all perfectly, humor, gore, deaths, halloween atmosphere and a great well rounded cast and great stories that all end up joining up nicely. This one should never be passed up if you are looking for the perfect halloween horror movie.

Now i know we have our own movies we like to watch during this time of the year and if you have one you would like to share to this blog you are more then welcome too. Overall its a time for fun i hope you have watching these movies i recommended and if not then i apologize for your bad taste in movies (i am joking). But come back next week to this blog as i rank the halloween movie franchise before the much anticipated “Halloween Kills”. I hope you guys have a fun and safe halloween season and enjoy the horror that comes with this great season.

Milk Crate Challenge, My thoughts.

Why?

First people wanted to drink bleach, then it was licking donuts then it turned into licking ice cream and putting it back in the freezer so someone else can get sick. Just when you thought people couldn’t get anymore ridiclous, duh, duh duh “The Milk Crate Challenge” appears and I must tell you, its kind of funny to see. Not for the injuries but what people will do, the injuries and consequences people will do for internet clout. Now i have actually seen people go on this challenge and succeed without any injuries but I think there is a higher percantage of people who didnt make it.

The injuries

Busted ribs, cracked sternums, broken backs, dislocated joints and fingers and etc. I have seen the injuries, the drops, the painful screams and even the cheers with little reward for their efforts and why would they? Broken bones is not cool and having millions of people laughing at you from their computers and cell phones because of the injuries is just another additon of pain. All of your followers will laugh and then move on to the next trend while you are recovering in the hospital (if you are lucky to get to a hospital).

The reward

The reward to this challenge if you make it without falling. Well i am not sure what the reward is. Probably more followers, maybe cash if somebody bet you. It could be a variety of rewards but you have to ask yourself when you are all the way up on the milk crates, losing your balance, sweat beading from your head with eyes locked in on you. You must ask yourself, “Is the reward worth it”. But by the time you ask that question it might already be too late when you are falling and you land stomach first on to a crate and the next question you are asking your is “why did i do this dumb s**t?” The many questions that go on in my head about this challenge but the biggest question about this challenge is where are people getting all of these crates?

Well if you are one of these people who are doing this challenge, well I hope you make it without any severe injuries but if you do, well you know what they say “You knew thr dangers of the job when you took it”. But in a serious note, do not accept this challenge. Kids be safe and do not accept this challenge.

1992 Candyman Review….I dare you to say his name

Candyman….candyman…candyman…naw im good.

I can remember growing up as a 80s baby and back then my parents did not care, horror movies were always on and even with “Freddy Krueger” scaring the living ish out of me but I kept going back to watch it. Loved watching the Halloween Movies, “Friday the 13th” movies, “Pumpkinhead”, “Child’s Play”, “Hellraiser”. You name it we were watching at a very early age. (No I do not let my 3 year old watch horror movies and never will). My love for horror movies goes deep and I still watch them to this day. My wife not so much and that makes it alot funner to watch them with her. But “Candyman” was the one that made me scared again. Around the early 90s when Freddy was losing his fear, Jason was ready for retirement for a period of time and chucky…well chucky you can just punt him across the room and be done with him. But Candyman had me shook. I remember my dad took us to the theaters in Oakland to watch Candyman at 7 years old and by the 3rd act of the movie we were out lol.

BE HIS VICTIM

The plot: Helen Lyle played by (Virgina Madsen) is a college student in chicago who is working on a research paper on Urban Legends and comes across the story the of Candyman. Murders happening in the Cabini Green Projects. Helen is not a believer so she drags her friend to the projects to get some information. And she hears the stories and you think that would be enough to say “okay, i got enough info” but nooooo she comes back and well lets just say she probably keep her ass home at this point but “she doesnt scare easy” until candyman actually shows up in a parking garage and then all hell breaks loose for Helen Lyle. And Candyman doesnt mind bringing the hell to her.

The history: the character Candyman is based off the short story created by the great horror writer Clive Barker called “The Forbidden”. The orginal story was set in Liverpool England but director Bernard Rose wanted the movie to be set in Chicago, Illinois.

Tony Todd’s performance

The man himself

Tony Todd is a horror icon and this is the role that put him on the map. I loved his performance of “Night of the Living Dead” but this role put him up there with the titans of horror. His alone should be in the horror Hall of Fame. But his presence when you first see him makes you think “oh s**t”. The way he used the bloody hook in the movie was devastating. The way he grunted when he caught a victim was so chilling. His performance was amazing and scary at the same time. He was even good in the two other sequels even though the sequels were not very good.

There will be blood…and lots of it

Now if you like blood and guts well you will not be dissapointed but be very cautious there is some disturbing stuff that happens in this movie and parents who love this movie and has kids please do not let them watch this because this movie will freak them out and you will have to deal with consequences (I know my dad did). And believe it or not some of this movie is based on grim stories that actually happened in the Cabrini Greeb Projects but you can read up on that. Overall its a very good, very scary movie that did its job when the other horror icons were not cutting it around the early 90s. This movie goes down in the top five horror movies of all time. Overall grade I give it a A+. And yes I am very excited to watch the new Sequel that comes out in friday. I guess its time to get scared again and if you plan on seeing the new one well I hope you have a good time.

The Lox vs Dipset.

I can remember a time back in my teenage days back in High School, being a 16 year old kid who was always blasting mostley west coast rap full blast before going to school every morning various rappers like “E-40”, “Too Short”, “C-Bo”, “Yukmouth”, “Mac Dre”, “Snoop Dogg”, “The Dogg pound” “Dj Quik” and etc. Also had a deep love for the south rap scene as well. But growing up it was all about the west for me, it was like a traditon passed down, my two older brothers and uncles and even my father who cant stand rap these days engraved it into my head. But east coast didnt get to much love. Some east coast rappers made it into the mix like “Nas”, “Rakim” “Wu-tang” “redman”. “DMX” and etc. Now we didnt hate east coast rap it was just the west was number 1 in my heart. But another East rap trio caught my attention a long time ago and and still blast their music to this day.

The Lox

I was a big fan of these guys ever since I heard them on “Money power and respect” featuring “Lil Kim” and “Dmx”.  “Sheek Louch”, Jadakiss” and Styles P” form the Lox. They had hits and each one was great on the mic and each one of them had good solo projects in my opinion. They convinced me in the late 90s to give east coast rappers more play in my to big to fit on my bookshelf cd player. As time went along and and going to highschool times and the rap scene somewhat changed. My fellow classmates started wearing pink which that hella caught me off guard. And then one faithful day after school I see “Camron” video “I really mean it” Camron comes out of the escalade wearing a pink coat and pink boots. Then i told myself “ohhh” when i figured it out.

Dipset

Dipset was everywhere, hit after hit, every house party, every time you turned on “Rap city tha basement” or “106th and park”. They just kept coming out with the tracks. I wasnt feeling their music but I could not deny or hate on their impact. And they did keep the parties going. Their music videos were cool to watch and they were trend setters when it came to fashion. They had it all, the swag that early 2000s teens wanted, they were killing it.

Over years, over all the hits and transitions every artist went through in their respected careers and it leads to something, something that could be possibly be bigger then all their hits combined. Their “Versuz” battle maybe the biggest. Now over the past year we have had differnent music artist get in on the action. You had “Snoop Dogg” vs the late great “DMX” (RIP). You also had Teddy Riley vs Babyface. Keisha Cole vs Ashanti, “Earth Wind and Fire” vs “the isley brothers”. (Steve Harvey ruined that one for me). Keith Sweat vs Bobby Brown and of course the controversial “Jeezy” vs “Gucci Mane”. My favorite one of course was “E-40” vs “Too Short”.

Then it was announced “The Lox vs “Dipset” Madison Square Garden.

The war of words

Leading up to the battle the set up was perfect and quite funny. The back and forths on social media were funny. I learned Styles P is hilarious as a internet Troll. The exchanges that him and Jim Jones had  kept my attentions on a high alert. I mean this guy from thr bay area who didn’t bump much east coast rap but this battle, this build up kept my attention and the more i saw more anxious I was getting. Then the day finally comes.

The stage is set, Madison Square Garden is packed with fans, rappers, athletes, thugs, gangsters etc. Michael Buffer the Michael Buffer is front in the middle of the stage. The lox comes out first to DMX “Intro”. I had goosebumps, it was like watching 3 Mike Tysons storming the stage. These guys were hella ready.

Then  it’s Dipset turn to come out and they came late. Camron arrives finally with a beach chair. One group was there to have fun while the other, well you saw what happened.

MVP!!!

Jadakiss came for blood and Dipset did not have a answer for him. He took over while calling Dipset for “lip- synching” he was funny, he performed great along with his fellow members. It was fun and high energy and the catalog songs that they were bringing out was great. I am not from NY but for a minute watching the performance I felt I was from NY.

What are we doing?

On the Dipset side they seemed off, low energy, forgetting lyrics, Jim Jones looks like he fell off stage, Juelz Santana prettt much throwing an Alley oop to the Lox with the “i dont think these dudes like girls” line and Freeky Zeaky looking like a Hype man dancer had me  in tears. From multiple youtube channels i heard Camron almost left before the battle even started. Dipset chemistry was off. But overall I still enjoyed the their performances.

The lox wanted to take over everything,..including shoes lol

There was quite a bit of funny parts. The shit talking was funny as hell, Camron trying to kick off Styles P. Camron and zeeky mocking The lox during the D block song with thier marching had me cracking up. I know some people and and crtics had issues with the antics and some of the words said towarda each other buts its all love.

Overall this was so fun to watch and this is my favorite versuz battle out of them all. And i hope this series continues and grows bigger bigger and it was great to see the crowd enjoying the show. I hope musicans take full advantage of this and keep this thing going. Now for a wish list verzuz, here are some I would love to see.

“Dr Dre vs DJ Quik” “Tha Dogg pound” vs “Outkast. “Bone Thugs and Harmony” vs “Three-6 mafia”. And alot more.

If you are a hip hop fan i recommend watching it, its fun as hell, funny, and just exciting to watch and if this isn’t your type of show well thats okay but just let people enjoy the show and keep moving. Hope everybody has a great weekend and stay safe.
