My love for Halloween Ends

Yes, if you are reading this then you read it right. I loved this movie. Make no mistake about it, I’m a big Halloween fan and I do not care for the backlash this movie is receiving from critics and fans. If you are not a fan, great and if you are a fan like I am. Then you definitely have my support when it comes to this finale of this trilogy.

First and foremost the reason why I love this movie. Its the risks that it takes, goes with a different formula from most of the movies and the risks for me pay off. Introducing the new character Corey Cunningham and turning him into a crazed killer who starts off being terrified by Michael Myers but then later wants to become like him to serve out revenge on those who called him a monster, teased him for accidentally killing the young boy who was babysitting on Halloween night. Too me that was amazing.

Corey Cunningham

I loved the character, and the idea was something fresh and alot of fun to see in the screen. It was cool for me to see something different. I mean if I was too see Michael chase Laurie Strode for another 90 plus minutes, I might have checked out because I have seen it so many times. But to bring in this character and the way his story arc started was incredible. It was brutal and very disturbing and quite frankly, it was pretty sad and very, very scary if you really think about it.

Too see this character dive in to a very deep abyss of Evil and to want to become like Michael Myers didn’t turn me away, it caused my interest and my excitement to grow even more. The more I looked into this movie and from reading different articles and listening to interviews from directors and the actors told me, “this was going to be very different”. And that’s what I wanted to see. To see Corey spend time with Allyson one minute and next killing a person that did him wrong as he was a some evil Vigilante at night with Michael or without him was so cool to see. I also want to point out Allyson has weird a weird taste in men lol.

Corey and Laurie. Hey that rhymes

This movie brought in a new element of fun. In Halloween 2018 it was fun to see them restart the time line and bring back JLC. Halloween Kills it was fun to see Michael take the body count crown from Jason Voorhees. Halloween ends was fun for the new ideas to make the movie scary with the lack of Michael Myers screen time. To show you that even with Michael not being on screen very much, his evil presence was still there. Even in a weakened condition he was in showed you he was more then just brutal slasher, he was pure evil at its purest form.

Allyson and Corey
The man, the myth and the boogeyman legend

Now to see Michael in the condition that he was in in this movie made perfect sense to me. Back in 2017 David Gordon Green and Danny Mcbride confirmed Michael Myers was not immortal, so too see him hiding in the sewers, body damaged from being burned, shot, stabbed, fingers blown off, hit with bats, chains, and etc and being very old as well. Yeah I can say Myers was on some borrowed time at this point. So yeah Ole Mike is going to need some backup. Now the controversial part of Corey fighting Michael and getting the best of him and taking the mask did not bother me at all. I looked at Micahel in this movie like he was Logan, old, beat down and Corey being X23 so he had the advantage of the blood rush and youth getting the best of Michael.

Laurie Strode

I enjoyed JLC in this one, last movie she got on my last nerve with with the annoying dialouge, the way she talked about Michael. But what can you do. It was good to see the classic Laurie, enjoying her life, moving on from Michael, being a normal baking grandmother who was actually enjoying the Halloween season and longer being afraid of the boogeyman. It was cool to see but then when she had to get down and fight with Michael she had to whoop on the boogeyman and for me I wasn’t even mad about that. You killed her off in a dumb way in resurrection, I say let this iconic character get her win so she can live a peaceful life.

Final Round

And of course the major spoiler. Michael dies, his number 31 jersey is sent to the raftors with his killing buddies Freddy and Jason and to be honest I felt it was time. The character has been stalking the creens now for 40 plus years and it was time to move on and the way it was handled, I thought it was amazing to see. To see his body grinded up like, turned into a thousand pieces of flesh was amazing and very brave of the writers to actually do it. Of course this ending still in some ways has us left in mystery. Did Michael really kill Corey. Some people don’t believe he is dead and could set up for maybe a Corey Cunningham spin off and if that is the case. I’m for it.

Now on to the backlash. My dad use to tell me, “spoil a kid too much, that kid will turn into a brat and turn on you” and I see what he was talking about. Now if you don’t like the movie, fine, you have that right but I have seen multiple youtubers get attacked by multiple people for liking this movie. Halloween “Gatekeepers” leading the charge on attacks and my response to that is thanks for making this fanbase toxic. But it was only a matter of time. Stars wars has turned toxic, marvel has turned toxic and etc. And its a shame.

Also want to point out this will be my last movie review I post on this blog. I have decided to get back on the horse and try to pursue my own career in Hollywood and write my own movie scripts and didn’t want to Carry on with critiquing other people’s movies. It is now time for me to write my own. Whether I fail or succeed, it is time to give it another shot. Until next time my friends. Be well, enjoy the Halloween season with your love ones and be safe.

The Return Of the Scream Franchise. My Review of Scream. Spoiler free

They just love their scary movies.

And of course like the hardcore horror fan that I am, when this movie was first announced I ignored the complaints that I had about the direction but since the last movie came out so many years ago. I got excited and after seeing the first trailer, i was in. And last friday me and the wife got a babysitter for our daughter and had a classic date night. Dinner and a movie and like the fool that I am, not paying attention i ended buying movie tickets for the wrong movie but all was fixed and we ended watching the movie and this did not dissapoint me. I ended up enjoying this alot more then i thought i would. This movie was fun, gory, and a slashing good time. (Yeah i wrote that). What I most enjoyed about was this movie really opened up the franchise with their legacy characters which really caught my interest.

The great returns

It just wouldnt be a scream movie without the orginal surving three amigos “Sidney Prescott” “Gale Weathers” and “Dewey Riley”. The three come together for maybe a last fight with ghostface. New characters or i mean new vicitms of find out they are being hunted after a brutal attack of one of their friends and the bodies pile up around the good ole small town of Woodsboro. Like Michael Myers to Halloween and Freddy Krueger to Elm Street, woodsboro will never be safe city to live due to hardcore horror fans just taking it a step too far with their fandom and i feel this movie re captures that aspect perfectly.

Ghostface

Of course it wouldnt be a scream movie without the main person “Ghostface”. With the classic hunting knife and the black robe costume and mask. The iconic look is still menacing and scary when you see the killer on the screen and of course the voice, that voice that made everybody get a caller id back in the 90s is still the same with more edge. It was great to hear that voice again. It was just great to see ghostface again. Now of course like every movie comes out i have a couple of nitpicks about the movie but those nitpicks do not ruin this movie for me. Also this movie pays a great deal of respect to the orignal in more ways then i can count. It also may open the doors for more sequels.

Whats the future?

Of course the internet is buzzing about a possible sequel and if i had my way, i say make a couple of more. There is a whole new audience out there who may really enjoys this franchise like I do. I mean everybody deserves a good scream every now and then and i like to think Wes Craven himself would have enjoyed this new movie so i dont see any reason why the franchise cant continue. As long as you keep it scary and fresh this franchise will have a strong following like its had for more then 20 years now. Now is this movie as good as the first one? In my opnion, no but its still great in its own right so for me i hope they continue and for the overall grade i am going to give this movie a solid B+ but let me know what you think in the comment section. What worked for you or what didnt work for you. But in the mean time thanks for taking the time to read this review and i will see you guys and gals again. In the mean time be safe.

My Halloween Kills Review. The Good, The bad, and the corny. Spoiler Free

After the 1 year delay due to Covid 19 the man of the Halloween hour returns in very, very brutal fashion and boy this was one was off the scale. The kill count is at its highest, the suspense is there and to be honest they may even be the scariest Michael Myers i have ever seen. This was my second most anticipated movie of this year and i got tell you, i was very happy from what i saw.  First all i must say the 1978 mask they recreated was amazing, it maybe the best mask of them all. The blemishes they had on it while looking so clean was incredible. The movie starts off just super intense with great fan service but in a way the fan service starts to grow a little tiresome.

Michael Myers is pissed and you can defiantly tell when he comes out of the burning house. He’s brutal as all hell and he is sparing nobody, not even your local firefighters. This maybe the best Michael Myers performance yet. As Michael carries on with bloody murderous path of the town of Haddonfield the news has broke out of the burning house he is still on the blood path. The news breaks out and the residents ban together with “Tommy Doyle” played by the  Anthony Michael Hall rallies the town to hunt down Michael Myers while Laurie Strode in the hospital. Returning character like “Lindsey Wallace” “Marion Chambers” and “Lonnie Elam” the classic characters from the original.

  The good’s

Overall i thought it was great. I know what the critics and rotten tomatoes scores have given this movie a negative score but i could care less. It was actually a very tense and scary movie. Michael is very cold blooded and its beautiful to watch. The music in this music is absolutely amazing to hear. Is this the best of the franchise, i am not sure yet but with time it could turn out that way or maybe not. But after watching it in theaters and at home, i was surely not disappointed and had a lot fun watching it while waiting for that next tense jump scare. Beautiful horror and bloody slashing action at its finest but of course no movie is perfect and now on to

The Bad

The bad for me was the Haddonfield mob, they just could not get their s**t right and they got on my last nerve. Not saying the actors were bad but they were just not likeable at least for me. Either somebody was just doing something stupid or making the worst decision possible. Some of the characters had no business trying to hunt for the boogeyman. By the end of this movie i was actually rooting for Michael because i was just done with the people by the end of the movie and now on to….

 CORNY!!!

There was so much corny line’s in this movie and it was getting annoying. From the “Evil dies tonight” chants to the over explaining of how Laurie Strode talking about how she needed to be the one to Kill Michael caused me to roll my eyes multiple times and chuckle a little bit. Even my wife who is scared these movies even rolled her eyes. Now earlier in this review i mentioned fan service and at the beginning of this movie its amazing but as the movie progresses and so does the service and it starts to grow old and there is one line at the end that was great in the original movie but to hear it again at a certain situation of the movie was just cringe for me but overall i still enjoyed it for the most part.

Overall score

I will give this movie a solid A and most likely will watch it for a 3rd time because i just loved this movie. It was a lot of fun, it was actually scary and very dark and sometimes very gritty in a positive way. So if you were looking for a negative score well you came to the wrong blog but if you hated this movie which there is a lot of people. Well i can respect that.

If you took the time to read this review i say thank you. And also leave a comment and tell me your thoughts of the movie but hopefully you stay safe and have a fun loving halloween season. Until then see you next time and be safe and remember always watch out for the boogeyman.

My Halloween Movies Ranking

Today is the day a lot of horror movie fans have been waiting for. Today “Halloween Kills” is coming to theaters and Peacock streaming service. And as a fan of this franchise since i was a kid. Over the years this crazed halloween serial killer has gone through 11 different movies in which one of them Michael only appears in a TV ad in a bar scene in the movie “Halloween 3. The season of the Witch”. But overall i am even adding that movie on the list. This movie franchise defiantly has its up’s and downs but i take all the bad with the good. Of course i am not happy with the bad ones but it still feels good to watch the bad ones on a cool fall night. Overall Michael Myers has survived everything you can throw at him, bullets, knives, fire, fists, kicks, bad writing, bad executive decisions, reboots, more bad writing, bad ideas and more reboots. Since the new movie comes out today i thought it would be a nice touch to give you My Halloween movie rankings. And to start off the list and probably at no surprise

11.

This franchise killer is dead last on the list and rightfully so. From a kung fu Busta Rhymes, the bad casting and a plot that was pretty much trying to copy the success of “The Osbournes” and other reality shows at the time, this movie falls flat and never gets up. Its D.O.A. I mean the editing is terrible, just watch the party scene and you will see what i am talking about. This movie was a mistake and too a lot of fans this movie does not exist and i can not blame them. This movie sucks….. not number 10

10.

I know some of this movie has some pretty cool moments and has a touch from John Carpenter but want to see Michael Myers but what i got was a Doctor who pretty much didn’t want to deal with his kids who enjoyed a nice scotch or 5 of them. Overall John Carpenter wanted to move on from Michael and well this is what we got. If you want a killer well Robots are your killers in this movie along along with masks that kills the kids on halloween night from watching a TV ad from “Silver Shamrock”. Now i have heard this movie a decent following and if you are a fan of this movie, more power to you. On to the next at number 9 is…….

9.

Ah Halloween 5 The revenge of Michael Myers. Another black eye on the franchise. The movie that wrote the franchise into a tough spot and pretty much nearly killed the franchise after having such a great comeback from the previous entry. From killing of hero in the last movie to the forced horrible comedy with the goofy cops with their goofy theme when they enter the scene. This movie is just plan bad and just hard to watch. The characters are are annoying and Dr Sam Loomis has lost his mind and kind of funny to watch but overall this movie usually gets passed and deserves it. Next on the list…..

8.

Now i am going to say this, i actually do not hate this movie, but this movie did not feel like a Halloween movie, this felt like something you let your friend borrow something and then two years you get it back and object is ruined and you have to throw it away and buy a new one. This is what that movie is and was another franchise killer. Rob Zombie had free range on this movie and it really shows. From the white horse, the ghost mom, horrible characters and the worse Dr Loomis i have ever watched but this movie does has some qualities that i enjoy. This one goes really dark and gritty and Michael Myers is more ruthless. But thats about really it. On to the next movie

7.

Now this one a has a great following but for me this one is very slow and kind if drags on. John Carpenter did not want to do this movie, everybody knows that story but for me i can really see he didn’t want to do this. The firs act of this movie is great but when it gets to the middle, it gets boring and at the point i just kind of want the movie to hurry up and get over with it has some pretty iconic scenes in this movie as well. Good suspense and Dr Loomis i feel is at his best. Next on the list.

6.

Okay this is one of my guilty pleasures in he franchise. I know its so bad but yet good. Now there is some very questionable writing in this movie but you know what, this is Michael Myers (to me) at his most powerful. Its Michael Myers on steroids with heavy metal playing in his ears as he walking towards his prey to kill them. I love this one because as a kid me and my friends would always watch after a full day of football in the fall. This movie has a great fall atmosphere. Sadly this would be the great Donald Plesance last performance for the series since he passed away before the movies theatrical release in september of 1995. Next in the list is……

5.

Before Rob Zombie lost the rest of his mind he made this 2007 remake and for me i really enjoyed. It does have a lot of issues like the fact almost every guy looked like Rib Zombie and almost everybody talked like Rob Zombie (problaby). This movie came out five years late after the god awful Halloween Resurrection and brought back life into the franchise. Michael Myers was a giant and scary again but one problem, they gave The Shape a back story and not a very good one. But its way better then the sequel next on the list.

4.

True story, this was the first Halloween movie i have ever scene. At only five years old, my dad let me watch it with him when he rented because my parents were more afraid of us walking down the Street in Oakland california in the late 80s then horror movies. But when i first watched it i really liked it and told my friends about the movie. From the god awful acting to it being a product of the times, this movie just sticks to me and its so fun to watch. Even with a terrible mask, Michael Myers is still scary very creative with his kills. You should see what he does with a shotgun. And with the great dark fall atmosphere and creepy soundtrack, this movie can never be passed up. Next on the list…..

3.

At the controversial number 3 slot comes the original. Now this was not first one i have seen in the series. I didn’t see this one until i was 10 years old so i was really late to the party. I love this movie but it was neve really scary and at ten years old listening to the dialogue always made me laugh but the stalking, the way he killed almost like a ninja. The escape scene from the institution was very creepy. This movie is very iconic and helped the slasher franchise breath and it can not be denied that this movie was a blueprint for classic horror to take notes from. Its a movie that can never be passed up during this time of the year. At number 2

2.

The first Halloween movie i ever seen in theaters and this movie did not disappoint. From the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, to stripping of Michael Myers of the Thorn Cult, psychic links with his niece (who does not exist in this time line) made Michael Myers cool again. But he wasn’t scary due to the horrible mask selections throughout the movie. Why they couldn’t have one mask and a good one is beyond me but overall this was my favorite one of the series for years. I also wish they had better music to this but thats really my only complaints about this entry. Now for the number 1 pick.

1.

I loved this one so much i actually watched it twice in theaters. To restarting the whole time-line, bringing back a much more rugged Laurie Strode and this time she is not playing. Michael Myers is now more ruthless then ever and to not make them brother and sister was a very good idea. I know a lot of people may have an issue with this being at number 1 but i just thought it was so great and Michael myers is at his scariest and i love the story is back down to basics and the music is so perfect. And it came out in October which made it even better.

This the my halloween movies ranking. If you have your ranking please do not be shy and share your ranking with this blog or share it to the world. Also let me know if you will be watching Halloween Kills. But thank you for reading this blog hope you guys enjoy the new movie. Have a good time and Happy Halloween.

Movie’s too watch for the Halloween season.

My favorite time of the year is here, my halloween spirit is up along with the decorations covering up my house. Classic horror movies are on the TV. The weather is cooler and crock pot meals are cooking at rapid pace. And just like every september where I watch a marathon of Martial Arts movie for my birthday, October is no different. The halloween season marathon has begun. Now of  course I watched the classics like “Halloween movies” “Friday the 13th movies” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street movies” “A Nightmare Before Christmas” but there are others that I would recommend outside of those classic films. So today I bring you my top ten Halloween season movies.

1.

This late 70’s horror classic has everything you want, (well almost everything). If “Jaws” made you want to stay out of the water then this movie will make you want to stay out of funeral homes. This chilling old school horror keeps a creepy vibe with a eerie story to it and the music to this movie is really cool to listen to. Now for a lot of todays audience I think a lot of people forgot about this franchise but if you come across it, give it a chance. Its not the scariest movie in the world but it defiantly has a very creepy vibe to it. With blood thirsty dwarfs, flying metal sphere balls flying into peoples heads and causing them to bleed out like a standing hose, this movie fits well with the season.

2.

Parents if you are looking for something to watch with the kiddos then look no further then “ParaNorman”. This 2012 animation is now on Netflix. The animation is cool, the story is funny and there is a lot of adult humor in it. Overall its a fun movie and I don’t think the kids will be disappointed from this one.

3.

“Some motherf***kers’ are always trying to ice-skate uphill”

Who would of thought brutal action horror would be the one to save the superhero franchise. Well this is the grandaddy of them all. Blade 1 and 2 are classics and fit perfectly for the halloween season.  You got blood, gore, horror, vampires and Wesley Snipes as a bad ass the classic marvel vampire hunter character “Blade”. The first movie set the tone and the second movie steps it up with the horror and gore. The Reapers will give your kids nightmares. This is not the avengers. You have been warned.

4.

This 1999 horror is perfect for the time of the year. The retelling story of The headless Horseman directed by Tim Burton is a very dark gothic tale opens up the world involving witchcraft, brutal murders and a very chilling atmosphere is a movie you can not pass up in the halloween season. Johnny Depp does a good job as “Ichabod Crane” and the “Headless Horseman” is cold blooded and brutal. I love this movie, I am surprised i don’t hear enough people talk about this movie when it comes to horror, maybe people don’t like this movie, i am not sure but this movie will always be on my list for Greatest horror  movie for me

5.

Okay, this movie is my childhood. I remember always renting it from Hollywood video (remember that place). The Ernest movies were great but very dumb but its another guilty pleasure and this was my favorite one of the series. The wacky story along with the creepy trolls that they created for this movie was so good and the way the trolls turned kids into wooden dolls was kind of chilling. If you are a 90s kid like i am then this movie will bring back good memories. For some reason i can never find this movie on any streaming services but if you come across it, give this movie a chance.

6.

Here’s another one parents can watch with their kids. This 20006 animation has great voice work and great animation to go with it. This movie is very fun to watch with your kids. And every halloween season needs a haunted house.

7.

Another classic comedy that blends a little horror into it that the kids may enjoy. Lord knows I did at six years old. This 1991 comedy is just great overall movie in my opinion. I remember being so excited to watch this in theaters and always watch it for the halloween season. Now Raul Julio (it was a a tuesday) plays the perfect Gomez and Christopher Lloyd as uncle Fester is incredible. You barely can recognize him. This is another one that the family can enjoy together.

8.

Forget Rotten Tomatoes. This late 90s dark comedy horror was just way to funny to pass on. Not to mention the gore and horror is just perfect and its set around Halloween time. I loved this movie as a teen and Jessica Alba had a lot to do with that. Overall this movie is too good to pass up. I don’t see it in streaming services and i think overall people forgot about this one but if you come across it, give it a chance, you may like it.

9.

Another horror classic thats hard to pass up for this time of the year. I mean the same alone is perfect for the halloween season. This monster of vengeance is out for blood and it will get it one way or the other. Now along with Phantasm this horror classic has been forgotten about. Now if you are into 80s horror movies like i am, this one will not disappoint and if you are disappointed then Pumpkinhead will come at you for revenge

10.

And at number 10 is the great “Trick R Treat”. This horror mythology set on Halloween night is the perfect halloween movie and I hope, if the rumors are true we will get a sequel one day. Overall this movie blends it all perfectly, humor, gore, deaths, halloween atmosphere and a great well rounded cast and great stories that all end up joining up nicely. This one should never be passed up if you are looking for the perfect halloween horror movie.

Now i know we have our own movies we like to watch during this time of the year and if you have one you would like to share to this blog you are more then welcome too. Overall its a time for fun i hope you have watching these movies i recommended and if not then i apologize for your bad taste in movies (i am joking). But come back next week to this blog as i rank the halloween movie franchise before the much anticipated “Halloween Kills”. I hope you guys have a fun and safe halloween season and enjoy the horror that comes with this great season.
