My Halloween Movies Ranking

Today is the day a lot of horror movie fans have been waiting for. Today “Halloween Kills” is coming to theaters and Peacock streaming service. And as a fan of this franchise since i was a kid. Over the years this crazed halloween serial killer has gone through 11 different movies in which one of them Michael only appears in a TV ad in a bar scene in the movie “Halloween 3. The season of the Witch”. But overall i am even adding that movie on the list. This movie franchise defiantly has its up’s and downs but i take all the bad with the good. Of course i am not happy with the bad ones but it still feels good to watch the bad ones on a cool fall night. Overall Michael Myers has survived everything you can throw at him, bullets, knives, fire, fists, kicks, bad writing, bad executive decisions, reboots, more bad writing, bad ideas and more reboots. Since the new movie comes out today i thought it would be a nice touch to give you My Halloween movie rankings. And to start off the list and probably at no surprise

11.

This franchise killer is dead last on the list and rightfully so. From a kung fu Busta Rhymes, the bad casting and a plot that was pretty much trying to copy the success of “The Osbournes” and other reality shows at the time, this movie falls flat and never gets up. Its D.O.A. I mean the editing is terrible, just watch the party scene and you will see what i am talking about. This movie was a mistake and too a lot of fans this movie does not exist and i can not blame them. This movie sucks….. not number 10

10.

I know some of this movie has some pretty cool moments and has a touch from John Carpenter but want to see Michael Myers but what i got was a Doctor who pretty much didn’t want to deal with his kids who enjoyed a nice scotch or 5 of them. Overall John Carpenter wanted to move on from Michael and well this is what we got. If you want a killer well Robots are your killers in this movie along along with masks that kills the kids on halloween night from watching a TV ad from “Silver Shamrock”. Now i have heard this movie a decent following and if you are a fan of this movie, more power to you. On to the next at number 9 is…….

9.

Ah Halloween 5 The revenge of Michael Myers. Another black eye on the franchise. The movie that wrote the franchise into a tough spot and pretty much nearly killed the franchise after having such a great comeback from the previous entry. From killing of hero in the last movie to the forced horrible comedy with the goofy cops with their goofy theme when they enter the scene. This movie is just plan bad and just hard to watch. The characters are are annoying and Dr Sam Loomis has lost his mind and kind of funny to watch but overall this movie usually gets passed and deserves it. Next on the list…..

8.

Now i am going to say this, i actually do not hate this movie, but this movie did not feel like a Halloween movie, this felt like something you let your friend borrow something and then two years you get it back and object is ruined and you have to throw it away and buy a new one. This is what that movie is and was another franchise killer. Rob Zombie had free range on this movie and it really shows. From the white horse, the ghost mom, horrible characters and the worse Dr Loomis i have ever watched but this movie does has some qualities that i enjoy. This one goes really dark and gritty and Michael Myers is more ruthless. But thats about really it. On to the next movie

7.

Now this one a has a great following but for me this one is very slow and kind if drags on. John Carpenter did not want to do this movie, everybody knows that story but for me i can really see he didn’t want to do this. The firs act of this movie is great but when it gets to the middle, it gets boring and at the point i just kind of want the movie to hurry up and get over with it has some pretty iconic scenes in this movie as well. Good suspense and Dr Loomis i feel is at his best. Next on the list.

6.

Okay this is one of my guilty pleasures in he franchise. I know its so bad but yet good. Now there is some very questionable writing in this movie but you know what, this is Michael Myers (to me) at his most powerful. Its Michael Myers on steroids with heavy metal playing in his ears as he walking towards his prey to kill them. I love this one because as a kid me and my friends would always watch after a full day of football in the fall. This movie has a great fall atmosphere. Sadly this would be the great Donald Plesance last performance for the series since he passed away before the movies theatrical release in september of 1995. Next in the list is……

5.

Before Rob Zombie lost the rest of his mind he made this 2007 remake and for me i really enjoyed. It does have a lot of issues like the fact almost every guy looked like Rib Zombie and almost everybody talked like Rob Zombie (problaby). This movie came out five years late after the god awful Halloween Resurrection and brought back life into the franchise. Michael Myers was a giant and scary again but one problem, they gave The Shape a back story and not a very good one. But its way better then the sequel next on the list.

4.

True story, this was the first Halloween movie i have ever scene. At only five years old, my dad let me watch it with him when he rented because my parents were more afraid of us walking down the Street in Oakland california in the late 80s then horror movies. But when i first watched it i really liked it and told my friends about the movie. From the god awful acting to it being a product of the times, this movie just sticks to me and its so fun to watch. Even with a terrible mask, Michael Myers is still scary very creative with his kills. You should see what he does with a shotgun. And with the great dark fall atmosphere and creepy soundtrack, this movie can never be passed up. Next on the list…..

3.

At the controversial number 3 slot comes the original. Now this was not first one i have seen in the series. I didn’t see this one until i was 10 years old so i was really late to the party. I love this movie but it was neve really scary and at ten years old listening to the dialogue always made me laugh but the stalking, the way he killed almost like a ninja. The escape scene from the institution was very creepy. This movie is very iconic and helped the slasher franchise breath and it can not be denied that this movie was a blueprint for classic horror to take notes from. Its a movie that can never be passed up during this time of the year. At number 2

2.

The first Halloween movie i ever seen in theaters and this movie did not disappoint. From the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, to stripping of Michael Myers of the Thorn Cult, psychic links with his niece (who does not exist in this time line) made Michael Myers cool again. But he wasn’t scary due to the horrible mask selections throughout the movie. Why they couldn’t have one mask and a good one is beyond me but overall this was my favorite one of the series for years. I also wish they had better music to this but thats really my only complaints about this entry. Now for the number 1 pick.

1.

I loved this one so much i actually watched it twice in theaters. To restarting the whole time-line, bringing back a much more rugged Laurie Strode and this time she is not playing. Michael Myers is now more ruthless then ever and to not make them brother and sister was a very good idea. I know a lot of people may have an issue with this being at number 1 but i just thought it was so great and Michael myers is at his scariest and i love the story is back down to basics and the music is so perfect. And it came out in October which made it even better.

This the my halloween movies ranking. If you have your ranking please do not be shy and share your ranking with this blog or share it to the world. Also let me know if you will be watching Halloween Kills. But thank you for reading this blog hope you guys enjoy the new movie. Have a good time and Happy Halloween.

1992 Candyman Review….I dare you to say his name

Candyman….candyman…candyman…naw im good.

I can remember growing up as a 80s baby and back then my parents did not care, horror movies were always on and even with “Freddy Krueger” scaring the living ish out of me but I kept going back to watch it. Loved watching the Halloween Movies, “Friday the 13th” movies, “Pumpkinhead”, “Child’s Play”, “Hellraiser”. You name it we were watching at a very early age. (No I do not let my 3 year old watch horror movies and never will). My love for horror movies goes deep and I still watch them to this day. My wife not so much and that makes it alot funner to watch them with her. But “Candyman” was the one that made me scared again. Around the early 90s when Freddy was losing his fear, Jason was ready for retirement for a period of time and chucky…well chucky you can just punt him across the room and be done with him. But Candyman had me shook. I remember my dad took us to the theaters in Oakland to watch Candyman at 7 years old and by the 3rd act of the movie we were out lol.

BE HIS VICTIM

The plot: Helen Lyle played by (Virgina Madsen) is a college student in chicago who is working on a research paper on Urban Legends and comes across the story the of Candyman. Murders happening in the Cabini Green Projects. Helen is not a believer so she drags her friend to the projects to get some information. And she hears the stories and you think that would be enough to say “okay, i got enough info” but nooooo she comes back and well lets just say she probably keep her ass home at this point but “she doesnt scare easy” until candyman actually shows up in a parking garage and then all hell breaks loose for Helen Lyle. And Candyman doesnt mind bringing the hell to her.

The history: the character Candyman is based off the short story created by the great horror writer Clive Barker called “The Forbidden”. The orginal story was set in Liverpool England but director Bernard Rose wanted the movie to be set in Chicago, Illinois.

Tony Todd’s performance

The man himself

Tony Todd is a horror icon and this is the role that put him on the map. I loved his performance of “Night of the Living Dead” but this role put him up there with the titans of horror. His alone should be in the horror Hall of Fame. But his presence when you first see him makes you think “oh s**t”. The way he used the bloody hook in the movie was devastating. The way he grunted when he caught a victim was so chilling. His performance was amazing and scary at the same time. He was even good in the two other sequels even though the sequels were not very good.

There will be blood…and lots of it

Now if you like blood and guts well you will not be dissapointed but be very cautious there is some disturbing stuff that happens in this movie and parents who love this movie and has kids please do not let them watch this because this movie will freak them out and you will have to deal with consequences (I know my dad did). And believe it or not some of this movie is based on grim stories that actually happened in the Cabrini Greeb Projects but you can read up on that. Overall its a very good, very scary movie that did its job when the other horror icons were not cutting it around the early 90s. This movie goes down in the top five horror movies of all time. Overall grade I give it a A+. And yes I am very excited to watch the new Sequel that comes out in friday. I guess its time to get scared again and if you plan on seeing the new one well I hope you have a good time.
